Winterfolk XXVIII: Featuring David Roth and many more!!!
Winterfolk XXVIII: Featuring David Roth and many more!!!
For the 28th anniversary of Winterfolk, Portland's largest annual folk music event and a benefit for Sisters of the Road, we are privileged to welcome headliner singer-songwriter, author, and social activist David Roth.

Hailing from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, David has touched folks from all over the world with his evocative songs and stories over the last 30 years. From performing his song "Earth" for the fortieth anniversary of the United Nations, to singing his "Rising in Love" at Carnegie Hall for its centennial celebration, he has made a profound impact on the musical conscience of this nation.

Also on the playbill is local luminary Casey Neill, who has taken his blend of celtic, folk and contemporary sounds and hard hitting lyrics to audiences from New York City to his Pacific Northwest base.

Dan Rhiger and Rahmana Weist, better known as Sky in the Road, will lend their melodious, world music influenced songs and voices to the Winterfolkstage. Also featured at the 28th edition of this Portland tradition will be Dan Weber, a singer/storyteller who has been a Kerrville, Texas festival favorite and has been touring the U.S. extensively with his spirited ballads.

Rounding out this year’s sterling Winterfolk lineup will be Kelly Bosworth, a young woman who positively shines on stage as she sings, along with some eloquent offerings from master songsmith Paul Sanchez. Richard Colombo will emcee Winterfolk this year, and also contribute a song or two from his lifetime of commitment to this "music that matters".

A favorite part of the annual tradition, Portland's Artichoke Music is once again donating a guitar for the Winterfolk raffle, which will join a day of recording at Billy Oskay's Big Red Studio as the prize for some lucky winner. Raffle tickets will be available at Artichoke Music and at the Aladdin Theater the night of the concert.

Winterfolk is one of those rare expressions of giving which brings disparate parts of our area together, in the common cause of music and a sure knowledge that every dollar raised at the door goes to the people it is intended to help.

Sisters of the Road Cafe quietly continues to do its work of providing low cost and no cost meals in Portland’s Old Town neighborhood. Founded in 1979, Sisters Of The Road uses nonviolence to support community driven solutions to the calamities of homelessness and poverty. Sisters' cafe is open to everyone, serving low cost, hot, nutritious meals. It remains a shining example of reaching out and helping to change people's lives through food and friendship.
