Wordstock Extravaganza VIII, featuring:
Bettye Lavette
Bettye has had a distinguished career in soul music. She started recording music in 1962 at the age of 16 and hasn't slowed down since. Her latest album, "Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook" has been well received by everyone from The New Yorker to the Onion A/V Club. Bettye's bringing us tales from her new autobiography, A Woman Like Me.

Erin Morgenstern
Erin's debut novel The Night Circus has been described as ahistorical, which is to say it takes the good bits of history and mixes them all up, and then adds a bit of magic. NPR called it "instandly intoxicating" and People Magazine called it "a dark and extravagantly imagined debut."

Kurt Andersen
A prolific novelist, screenwriter and guy-about-town-who-writes-a-lot-of-things. His novels include Turn of the Century, Reset and most recently True Believers. He has also written essays, op-eds and shorter works, not to mention the fact that he founded the wonderfully satirical Spy Magazine in the 80s. He's also the host and co-creator of Studio 360.

Musical guests:

Storm Large
Like some twisted love child of Mae West and Keith Richards, Storm Large is a force of nature. Her ballsy, heartbreaking, hysterical tour de force of a memoir is not to be missed. Crazy Enough is vulgar and fragile, tragic and empowering, and like Storm, it is always entertaining
David Bazan
Seattle-based singer/songwriter and former lead singer of the indie powerhouse Pedro the Lion. His current Control tour finds him playing Pedro's 2002 album of the same name.
