What is the Oregon Music Hall of Fame?

The Oregon Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF) is a non-profit organization (501 c3) whose main purpose is to promote and preserve the musical arts of the state of Oregon. The organization has been in existence for almost 7 years. Our mission statement is as follows:

The Oregon Music Hall of Fame is dedicated to the development, revitalization, invention and expansion of music education in Oregon’s public and private educational institutions.

The Oregon Music Hall of Fame is an organization and communications resource center for musicians, parents of musicians, educators, public and private school teachers, businesses who exist for and because of the love of music, non profit performance organizations and any other music-loving entity.

The Oregon Music Hall of Fame recognizes and promotes the legacy of exceptional Oregon musicians and will celebrate Oregon’s unique musical history by inducting musicians and other music heritage contributors into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.

So far this year, we have enhanced music education for 6,000 Oregon youth, and awarded partial scholarships to five students who are pursuing music education in college. Our long-term goal is to build an actual museum and educational facility, and expand our scholarship contributions in both quantity and size of scholarship.

Make a sound investment in Oregon's future, support the Oregon Music Hall of Fame!

OMHOF would like to thank our sponsors Joe Kassab Jewelers, Elliot, Powell, Baden and Baker Insurance, Berkley North Pacific and the Benson Hotel for their support!
U-Krew
U-Krew
The U-Krew was an R&B/hip-hop music quintet from Portland, Oregon that saw its greatest success in 1990. The members of the U-Krew were Kevin Morse (lead vocals), Larry Bell (Producer keyboard/drum programmer), Lavell Alexander, James McClendon, and Hakim Rashad Muhammad. They were originally billed as The Untouchable Krew when formed in October 1984.
After shortening their name to The U-Krew, the band released its only album in 1989, eponymously titled The U-Krew on Enigma records. The album peaked at #93 on the Billboard 200[1] and included the hit singles "If U Were Mine" and "Let Me Be Your Lover" which reached number 21 and number 68 respectively on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1990.[2] Enigma records folded in 1992. The band never released another album.
Their song "Ugly" was featured in the cult sci-fi film, I Come in Peace. Hakim Rashad Muhammad and James McClendon became simply Hakim & J-Mack in 1996. In 1999 they released an album titled, "Playalistic" on Portland, OR based Lucky Records.
